CW takes aim at 'Green Arrow' pilot

'Green Arrow'CW is dipping into the DC Comics vault again as it closes in on a pilot order for an adaptation of the "Green Arrow" comic from Greg Berlanti and Warner Bros. TV.Berlanti is co-writing the pilot with his frequent collaborator, Marc Guggenheim, and Andrew Kreisberg. The trio will exec produce.The comic, which dates back to the early 1940s, revolves around a vigilante superhero who uses archery and martial arts to fight crime. In his public persona, he's Oliver Queen, a liberal politician and billionaire. He works with an extended family of superhero sidekicks who are known as Team Arrow.CW has long sought to mine more of the DC archive for series material. "Smallville," derived from the Superman franchise, was a 10-year mainstay for CW and its WB predecessor. The Green Arrow/Oliver Queen character was a regular on "Smallville" from 2006 through the end of the series in 2011.Berlanti and Guggenheim landed a pilot order on Monday from Fox for a legal drama, "Guilty." Kreisberg previously worked on the Berlanti-Guggenheim ABC drama "Eli Stone." More recently he's been a writer-producer on Syfy dramas "Warehouse 13" and "Defiance" and Fox's "Fringe."
