"Back to the Future" co-creator Bob Gale revealed to mental_floss how Marty McFly and Doc Brown became friends! "For years, Marty was told that Doc Brown was dangerous, a crackpot, a lunatic. So, being a red-blooded American teenage boy, age 13 or 14, he decided to find out just why this guy was so dangerous. Marty snuck into Docs lab, and was fascinated by all the cool stuff that was there. when Doc found him there, he was delighted to find that Marty thought he was cool and accepted him for what he was. Both of them were the black sheep in their respective environments. Doc gave Marty a part-time job to help with experiments, tend to the lab, tend to the dog, etc. And thats the origin of their relationship," Gale explained. So now you know. "Resident Evil 5" To Shoot In Toronto "Resident Evil: Retribution 3D" is on the fast-track to being made in time for its September 14, 2012 release date. The Hollywood Reporter has learned that the Paul W.S. Anderson-directed flick will start shooting in Toronto from mid-October to December 23. So far only Milla Jovovich is attached to the flick. "American Reunion" Asks You To Save The Date A poster for "American Reunion" has hit the web and is sticking with the series' pie imagery. The tagline touts to "save the best piece for last" as a slightly mutilated apple pie sits in the middle of giant lettering for 2012. So make sure you save the date for April 6, 2012. The Secret Of "The Lone Ranger" Demise Revealed One word: werewolves. Screen Rant reports that apparently the Disney-financed flick was going to cost the Mouse House upwards of $250 million because director Gore Verbinski and star Johnny Depp wanted "Lone Ranger" to involve werewolves. But because of the box office failure that was "Cowboys & Aliens," Disney decided that the mash-up was too big of a risk and decided to pull the plug. Maybe a revised script and cheaper budget will add new life to "The Lone Ranger" remake. Billy Crystal Wants His Oscar-Hosting Gig Back Billy Crystal is saying that he wants to host the Oscars "one or two more times," and it turns out that he might get his wish. Academy Awards producer Brett Ratner responded to Crystal's comments via Deadline, saying, "I didn't see what Billy said. I'm really focused on finishing my film 'Tower Heist' right now. [But] I was told by the Academy that I don't have to make a decision until mid-September." Fingers crossed! Tell us your thoughts on today's Dailies in the comments section below or on Twitter!
