Movieline's Week in Review: Goodnight Irene

Well, folks, it’s time to pack up our canned goods and bottled water, inflate our rafts, and row row row our boats gently down the middle of the street to the safe haven of Movieline’s Week in Review. Our West Coast bureau will be back with you in the days ahead with box-office news and other happenings from the cinema front; the East Coast bureau will be back with you from wherever Hurricane Irene chooses to drop us. Hopefully there are movies there! More to come then — have a very safe and dry weekend! · Ryan Gosling prepped for hurricane rescue duty with brave street intervention. · We cast Christian Bale. Now you can, too. · Many thanks to this week’s illustrious interviewees, including Guillermo del Toro and Katie Holmes, Zoe Saldana, Stephen Lang, Sam Riley, Andrea Riseborough and Verge designee Bailee Madison. · Explanation was the death of Jim Carrey’s joke. · Tom Hardy and Al Pacino were the foci of this week’s big revelations. · We learned how flop sausage is made. · Bad Movies We Love tingled.
